I have four credit cards and I have been using all of them. This early morning, I woke up and realized that I have misused and abused all of them. I have reached their credit limit. How did it happen? Well, I used all my cards whenever I purchase things. Be it gasoline, food, dress, etc. I didn’t even ask myself whether I needed the item. I just swipe and swipe. Then, I pay upon receipt of my salary.

Just recently, I realized that I don’t deposit money for my savings account anymore unlike the way I used to do. this botehred me so much because I used to take control of my financial life. Now, I felt I was such a mess.

Here are the steps I did to straighten up things:

1. I paid my credit card balance in full.

I am lucky I have savings to pay the amount due.

2. I stopped using my cards

I wrapped my cards in a paper and taped them all. After that, I stopped using them. Actually, I went to the mall a while ago to buy a gift for my monito. Then  when I was about to pay them, I asked my self whether I will use the one and only card I brought or pay in cash. So, I did the right thing and I paid in cash.  I felt the loneliness when my money in my wallet decreased.  I felt the real value of money. Before, I would swipe it and pay when the bill comes. I did not feel the decrease of my money at all.  It was a false feeling of sufficiency.

3.  Debit cards

I realized that I would rather use my debit card instead of my credit cards. At least they are my savings and I won’t be creating  a liability whenever I use it.
